The Urban Retreat is a space for personal time with God. Created to be an easily accessible oasis, aside from the demands of daily life, it is a place for individuals to come and find rest, rebalancing and refreshing. We encourage peace and perspective which restore the soul and strengthen the spirit, through intimacy with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is a prayer centre, designed to encourage the many forms that prayer can take. The emphasis is on alone time with God, believing that just as our Lord Jesus took time away from others to be with His Father, we should follow in His example and find opportunities to do the same.
In the Retreat you will find spaces to intercede for Watford, to soak in His presence, to worship Him through creativity, music, prayer and natural beauty, and to spend time in complete solitude with the Lord. We invite you to learn from others, both ancient and modern, who have discovered ways of exploring the mysteries and wonders of God, with books, materials and suggestions to help you connect with Him.
We believe that better is one day in His courts than a thousand elsewhere. We invite you to come to the Retreat, to enter into His courts, to seek and to find, to rest and to be restored.
The Urban Retreat is membership-based, open to members Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 5.30pm and Saturdays, 11.30am – 3.30pm. Membership is available to those with a significant connection with Watford who desire to come and meet with our Lord Jesus Christ. It costs just £10 for one year.
